About Us

I Believe in Birmingham was formed in the late spring of 2010 when a group of concerned city residents learned that two prominent national chain stores, a restaurant and a drug store, were threatening key historic locations in Birmingham.

An overwhelming desire to preserve these historically relevant areas drew thousands of citizens together to challenge the big chains and the city of Birmingham (residents, businesses and leaders alike) to protect the city’s remaining treasures.

So it was. As spring flowers bloomed and the trees became green, I Believe in Birmingham blossomed, too.

Change happens when people believe that it can.   We believe that time has come for Birmingham and we hope that you believe it too.
